Criminal Jurisdiction

Session Judge at Mangan exercises jurisdiction over the entire North District. Special Courts of POCA, POCSO, SADA, Children’s Court, MACT, Consumer Forum exercises jurisdiction over the entire North District. Chief Judicial Magistrate East and North exercises jurisdiction over the entire North District. Judicial Magistrate 1st class Mangan exercises jurisdiction over the subdivisions of Mangan, Passingdong and Kabi. Judicial Magistrate 1st class Chungthang exercises jurisdiction over the subdivision of Chungthang.

Civil Jurisdiction

The jurisdiction of a District Judge extends to all original suits for the time being cognizable by Civil Courts. The jurisdiction of a Civil Judge Senior Division Mangan extends to all suits of which the value does not exceed five lakh twenty-five thousand rupees for North District revenue subdivisions. The jurisdiction of a Civil Judge Junior Division Mangan extends to all suits of which the value does not exceed five lakh rupees for Mangan, Passingdong and Kabi revenue subdivisions. The jurisdiction of a Civil Judge Junior Division Chungthang extends to all suits of which the value does not exceed five lakh rupees for Chungthang revenue subdivision.

 

Court Fees

Plaints in civil suits or civil appeals = 6% on the value of the claim payable in advance.

Successions Certificate = 2% on the amount or value of any debt or security specified in the certificate, and 3% on the amount or value of any debt or security to which the certificate

MACT Cases:
The cost of Compensation
Affix a court-fee of Rs 10 if the compensation you are claiming is less than Rs 5,000.
Affix a court-fee that is worth 0.25 per cent of your claim if you are asking for compensation that is between Rs 5,001 and Rs 50,000.
Affix a court-fee that is worth 0.5 per cent of your claim if you are asking for compensation that is between Rs 50,001 and Rs 100,000.
Affix a court-fee that is worth 1 per cent of your claim if you are asking for compensation that is more than Rs 100,000; but the maximum fee that you have to pay is Rs 15,000.
